Life Changes
I graduated almost a WHOLE YEAR AGO, but I just haven't spoken much about work. These past few months of work have been a great experience, to say the least. However, I never saw myself as a life long floor nurse. Although it has been a world of learning, it just isn't what I love. We med-surge nurses don't get as much credit as we deserve, but I don't need a pat on the back to tell me that I am doing the absolute best job I know how. We stay under the radar, but I work with some of the greatest nurses who have taught me so much. I will always take that with me. However, starting at the end of the month, I will be transferring to the CICU(Cardiac Intensive Care Unit). This will be a very big change from what I am doing now. However, I do think my experiences on the medical surgical unit have been a great foundation. I can not wait to see what the future holds, as long as I am holding it together.

I spent a very long time in the CICU and my nurses did so much for me in there. Physically i was well taken care of but emotionally as well.... they REALLY got me through the aftermath of a massive heart attack at 29 years old.... I know you'll be that kind of nurse for your patients as well. Great career move!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Holli! I'm definitely nervous because it is pretty different than what I do now, but I really am looking forward to it.
DeleteThat is so awesome. I love cardiac nursing, its so complex and challenging and there is always something new to learn. And that's just my experience as a telemetry nurse (without the whole ICU side of it). Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWe do telemetry on our medsurge unit but I know I am in for a huge change. But Im pretty excited about all the knowledge I'll gain!!!
DeleteI am so excited for you!! You are going to do great!~
