It can't be that bad

DISCLAIMER: this blog shouldn't offend anyone, just make them more aware of their spoken words.

In a little over 3 months I have known 3 people diagnosed with cancer. In three months every single problem I thought I had, no longer really mattered. Because someone is actually having a really bad day. One of my biggest pet peeves lately has definitely become seeing all of the negative comments on facebook & twitter. Comments like "ugh, I have the worse luck, they didn't have the shoes I wanted", or a "My messy house needs to be cleaned, agh my life sucks." Really? I am sure it sucks having to clean your house, but your life sucks because of that? No, seriously?  Atleast you have a house, atleast you have the ability to get what you want when you want it.  (And it isn't these comments, per say, just the negative comments in general.) So the complaining should probably stop. ***I know I have more than likely been guilty of such a crime, but I really have tried a lot lately to just be thankful.  If people only knew what was really going on with that person sitting next to them with a blank look in their eyes. Do you know their story, or are you too busy complaining about all the things you don't need? I don't mean to rant but RATHER make people more aware of the people around them. Not everyone is as fortunate as you might be, and if they have the means, you still don't know their story. Take a closer look.
It might surprise you.

  2. I'm with you, 100%. At one point in time I was that person with the blank stare.

Kinda gives a whole new meaning to "don't judge a book by its cover!"
    <3 Have a good weekend!

  3. I know exactly what you mean. Exactly. As I write this I'm sitting on the couch next to my mom's borrowed hospital bed listening to her labored breathing as cancer rapidly takes her life.

And I read Facebook and see people freaking out over school and politics and whatever the local news reported... all of which are important in their own ways, but really my perspective has completely changed.

In the grand scheme of things, what does it matter? Life is too short to worry about the things we can't control or change, we should just be glad and not waste the short time we're given.

  4. I live by that idea... that you don't really know what the person next to you is going through... that's why I never judge and I try really really hard not to complain. I love this post.... thanks for putting this out there! I'm sending good thoughts out for the people in your life who were just diagnosed with cancer....

  5. I completely agree. I try my best to be positive and not complain. I fail, of course, but I do my best. Because I know that my problems are the worst and someone else is going through much more than me.

  6. I can definitely relate. I constantly think about how much worse other people in this world have it. Negativity(or perhaps selfishness?) can get the best of us at times, though, unfortunately. But, I'm definitely with you on the annoyance of people complaining about unnecessary problems even though I am just as guilty as any of may be.

  8. I agree with you about the negativity. That's something I've seen around me a lot lately.

  9. SO TRUE! My life and the way I look at it changed dramatically when Dad was diagnosed with cancer 12 years ago. He was given 2 years to live, and here I am talking about my healthy Dad 12 years later. God is GREAT, isn't he? I totally agree with you about the statuses on FB that get a little petty.
